Luther hosted UW-Eau Claire for its home opener this afternoon. The Blugolds defeated the Norse by a final of 138-101.
Sam Kraft and Linnea Lee-Brown led this Norse posting two first place finishes each. Kraft won the 1000 freestyle (11:18.33) by 28 seconds and the 500 freestyle (5:31.30) by 31 seconds. Lee-Brown won the 50 freestyle (25.30) edging Emily Ries of UWEC (25.96). she also won the 100 freestyle (56.45) by nearly two seconds.
Divers Megan Broadbent and Elizabeth Bonin traded places capturing first place finishes in one-meter and three-meter diving respectively. Broadbent won the one-meter competition posting a point total of 221.20, while Bonin finished with 195.30. In three-meter, Bonin edged out Broadbent 225.40 to 223.20.
Second place finishes were posted by Kelly Cherrier in the 200 fly (2:29.47), Sofie Wallock in the 200 backstroke (2:21.50) and Pilar Dritz in both the 200 breaststroke (2:43.38) and 200 IM (2:21.50)
Luther returns to action one week from today when it will host Grinnell College. Start time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
