Luther finished the first half of the Iowa Conference schedule with a dominating performance to night at Buena Vista University. The Norse rolled to a 76-52 victory over the Beavers and improved to 6-2 in league play.
Luther took the lead for good with 7:32 remaining in the second quarter. The Norse posted 39 points off of turnovers and the bench outscored the Beavers 24-6. Luther also won the battle of the glass, out rebounding Buena Vista 48-37.
Madison Spence and Grayson Schroeder led the offensive attack posting career highs. Spence recorded a double-double, thanks to a career high 22 points and collecting 11 rebounds. Her 11 boards was one shy of her career high of 12 set against Wartburg on Jan. 18, 2017. Schroeder was credited with 17 points thanks to a 4-of-6 effort from behind the three-point line. Her previous career best was 14 points. Sarah Holtz completed the list of double digit scorers adding 13 points off the bench.
Buena Vista was led by Jasmine Demers with 16 and Holly Schnedier with 12.
The win gives Luther an overall record of 12-7. Buena Vista fell to 3-5 in the Iowa Conference, 8-9 overall.
Luther returns home on Saturday, Jan. 20, when it will host Loras College at 2:00 p.m.
