Luther improved to 2-0 following a 71-69 victory over Marian University (WI) in a semifinal game of the Bethel University Perkins Tip-Off Tournament.
Luther led at halftime 37-25 thanks to some long range shooting. The Norse finished the night connecting on 11-of-25 three pointers.
The Norse extended their lead to 17 (61-44) at the midway point of the second half. In a seven minute stretch, Marian put together a 23-2 run and battled back and took its first lead of the game (67-65) with just a little over one minute remaining. Six consecutive free throws, four by Jake Martin and two by John Androus down the stretch, secured the victory for the Norse.
Androus, Aaron Huber and Nathan Meyer all tallied 11 points. Martin chipped in eight and collected a game high 11 rebounds. Huber was 3-of-4 from behind the three-point line, while Meyer was 3-of-6.
Luther will play tomorrow night in the championship game at 8:00 p.m. The Norse will face the winner of the other semifinal match-up between UW-Eau Claire and Bethel.
