Luther and Simpson split the first two games of their four-game series with the Norse winning game one 4-3 and the Storm winning the nightcap 4-2.
Eric Pittman drove in the game winner in the bottom of the sixth in game one, beating out what looked like a routine double play. Pittman dove into first and was called safe, while Aldon Severson scored. Severson led off the inning hit by a pitch.
Alec Knop went the distance on the mound. Knop allowed three runs on seven hits, walked three and struck out three. Knop is now 5-1 with an ERA of 2.20.
Teddy Klingsporn and Nate Whitham split time on the mound. Klingsporn allowed three unearned runs on three hits, walked four and struck out three in 4 1/3 innings of work. Whitham allowed one run on five hits, walked one and struck out one in 4 2/3 innings.
The split gives Luther a league record of 5-13, 11-17 overall. Simpson is 7-13 in the IIAC, 14-16 overall.
The two teams will wrap up the series tomorrow. The double header will begin at Noon.
