Eleven teams participated in the 41st Annual All-American Invitational in what was close to ideal conditions for the field of 130 runners.
Luther placed fourth with a point total of 111. The Norse actually tied with Hamline, but Luther's sixth runner Matt Weitzel finished in 29th place, 10 places ahead of Hamline's sixth runner, thus giving the Norse the fourth place finish.
Loras College won the team title with 35 points, followed by UW-La Crosse with 59, and the Luther Alumni with 97.
Alex Rigdon led the top five Norse scorers finishing 16th clocked at 21:42.9 on the four mile course. The rest of the top five included Austin Bauer (21st - 21:48.6), Brock Laue (23rd - 21:55.1), Evan Neubauer (24th - 21:58.4) and Jackson Espeset (27th - 22:03.2). Soren Thompson (30th - 22:06.5) was seventh for the Norse.
The Norse will return to action on Friday, Sept. 21 when they will compete in the UW-Eau Claire Invitational. This race will take place on Whitetail Golf Course, Colfax, Wis.
