  • Played guard and center on the basketball team and was noted for his strong defensive work and team play
  • During his five years as a member of the baseball team, one of them while he was still in the Preparatory Department (high school), he pitched almost all the games
  • Pitched Luther's first recorded no-hit game in a 3-0 victory over Upper Iowa in 1905
  • After graduation he devoted his life to the field of business, first as a bank executive in North Dakota and later in Minneapolis where he was Vice President of the Federal Credit Bank.

Adolph O. Naeseth - 1909

  • Spent seven years, 1902-09, as a student at Luther, three in the Preparatory Department (high school) and four in college
  • Luther's first intercollegiate basketball game was played during the 1903-04 school year
  • Naeseth played on the basketball team the next five years, 1904-09, being one of the few athletes in Luther annals to make a college team under the eligibility rule which then permitted an outstanding senior in the preparatory department to play on a college team
  • Perhaps best known for his heroics on the baseball field and the pitching mound
  • In addition to games scheduled with colleges during his three years of competition, he pitched eight games against major university teams, losing only two, tying two and winning over Minnesota, Wisconsin, and twice over Nebraska
  • Struck out 21 batters in a game called at the end of 15 innings on account of darkness with the score tied 1-1 against Minnesota
  • As a senior, he struck out three men in the ninth inning with the bases loaded and no outs to secure 1-0 victory over Wisconsin
  • Lost his life in an automobile accident in 1965
