Marvin Slind is Professor Emeritus of History. He taught in the Luther College History department from 2000 to 2013, focusing on Scandinavian and Modern European history. His course topics included European History from 1648 to the Present, the Vikings in History, Scandinavian Immigration History, Scandinavia and the Baltic, and Topics in European History, including courses covering the French Revolution, Hitler and Nazi Germany, and The Age of European Revolutions: 1789-1917.
Professor Slind also headed a January Term course called "From Mobile to Margaritaville: Human Geography in the Music and Fiction of Jimmy Buffett," in which students examined the musical repertoire and fiction of Jimmy Buffett as a focal point for studying world geography and the human interactions associated with it through the course of history.
