This is the obvious one. A religion major will prepare you for seminary and any kind of ministry in two ways. First, our major gives students an extraordinary grounding in biblical studies, biblical languages, and theology. Second, our department offers courses that are central to the understanding of religion in the U.S. and globally that might not be offered by some seminaries.
At Luther, you can explore every major religious tradition, engage in the theory and practice of interfaith dialogue, and explore a variety of topics at the intersection of institutionalized religion and politics, culture, or science.
Our department also offers off campus and study abroad opportunities to visit places of worship located anywhere from here in the Midwest to the Middle East to South and East Asia. Our major gives you the opportunity to explore religious themes, traditions, and practices in the widest possible context.
