In my Feb. 12 President’s Update, I announced that the Board of Regents approved the 2018-2023 Strategic Plan. In today’s Update, I'm writing to request nominations for faculty, staff and students to serve as members on the Strategic Plan Implementation Task Force and to provide an update about the Brand Advisory Task Force that will support strategic plan goal 4.2.
Strategic Plan Implementation Task Force
The Strategic Plan Implementation Task Force will work with the Luther community to monitor progress on the strategic plan’s four goals and its supporting objectives and activities.
Charge: The Strategic Plan Implementation Task Force will monitor the implementation of the action plans for the activities articulated in the strategic plan, providing recommendations to the President for changes and resources, where needed, in order to maintain progress. The Task Force will provide periodic updates on the implementation of the strategic plan to the President, the Board of Regents, the President’s Cabinet, and the College Resource Council, as well as to the broader Luther community. The Task Force will serve as the working group for Activity 1.1.1, and, along with the Brand Advisory Task Force, will serve as an advisory group for Activity 4.1.1 (view Activity definitions in italics below).
Membership: The Strategic Plan Implementation Task Force will include the Dean for Institutional Planning and Mission, three members of the faculty (one from each Division), three members of the staff, and two students. The President will appoint the faculty, staff and student representatives to the Task Force from a slate of nominations generated by the campus community. Members of the Task Force will serve two-year terms; the appointments for faculty and staff may be renewed.
Time frame: The Strategic Plan Implementation Task Force will begin work immediately and continue through 2023.

Activity 1.1.1. Foster a common understanding about the characteristics of a liberal arts education and the mission and values of Luther College in the 21st century.
Activity 4.1.1. Develop a comprehensive campaign case statement that aligns with the goals, objectives and action items within the strategic plan.
Brand Advisory Task Force
Goal 4.2 in the strategic plan calls for Luther College to develop and launch a research-based brand positioning and marketing strategy that will build awareness, attract new customers and extend customer loyalty.
Earlier this Spring, I announced that we will create a Brand Advisory Task Force to work with Aimee Viniard-Weideman, vice president for communications and marketing, to provide advice, support and input during the brand development process and assist in engaging stakeholder groups. The task force will include faculty, students, staff, regents and members of the Alumni Council and Parents Council.
The Brand Advisory Task Force will also work with the new Strategic Plan Implementation Task Force to advise on goal 4.1.1 regarding the campaign case statements.
