The public is invited to the Luther College campus Monday, Aug. 21, for a solar eclipse observing event on the Library Lawn. The eclipse begins at 11:46 a.m. and ends at 2:34 p.m.
The event is sponsored by the Luther College Society of Physics Students and Preus Library. Members of the Society of Physics students will be on hand and will have some observing glasses and pinhole projection systems to allow safe viewing.
Minimum light will occur at 1:10 p.m., with more than 85 percent of the sun being eclipsed.
An interactive display describing the details of the celestial event is available to view in Preus Library.
