Direct Entry Program

High achieving high school students have the opportunity to be directly admitted into the Luther College Nursing major as first-year students.


Direct Entry admission is competitive and meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.

  • Minimum GPA of 3.8
  • Minimum 25 composite on ACT or SAT CR & M combined score of 1210
  • Minimum science reasoning score of 25 on the ACT or a minimum 570 Mathematics score on the SAT

o    To be considered for Nursing Direct Entry at Luther College without ACT scores, qualified students will be contacted by the Admissions Department and will be asked to answer prompt 1 and the student's choice of prompt 2 or 3 in one short essay (less than 250 words):

1.       Why did you choose to pursue a nursing career? Explain how your experiences and/or values shaped your decision.

2.       Provide a brief reflection about why you believe Luther College will be the best fit with your nursing degree and career plans.

3.       Explain how you aspire to use your Luther College nursing degree for the greater good.

No deficiencies in the minimum high school course requirements of

  • Four years of English
  • Three years of mathematics
  • Three years of social science
  • Two years of natural science (including one year of laboratory science)
