Marine Cpl. Carl Knutson remembered on Memorial Day

Alumnus and Marine Cpl. Carl Knutson was featured for Memorial Day in the Minneapolis Star Tribune Sunday, as one of 1,432 Minnesotans killed in action during World War I. Knutson left his Redwood County farm to attend Luther, playing tennis and editing the college monthly magazine. He graduated from Luther in 1913 and later joined the war efforts. "The individual is lost in armies counted by millions," he wrote in a letter to his sister in May, 1917.
