The News Bureau is a team of student workers who research, write and distribute news releases for the Media Relations office.
I am involved in soccer at Luther and am currently undecided on a major. I believe my job in Media Relations has strengthened my abilities to communicate with others both in the office and on a broader spectrum, as well as develop quality pieces of work. My tasks through the Media Relations office have reinforced my education at Luther by making me stay on top of school work due much like deadlines in effect in the office, as well as allowed me the ability to draft papers with value, and research efficiently. In the future, the learning experiences and work ethic instilled here will help my potential career through my developing communication, writing and typing, and much more.
I am a senior Communication Studies major and Spanish minor at Luther. Over the years, I've been an active member of the Luther Ballroom & Swing competitive team, choir, the campus radio station KWLC, a sorority, and the Student Activities Council. As my tenure in the Media Relations office comes to a close, I know that I've developed a number of skills that I will continue to use in my future career. From manning our front desk to learning how to make the printer cooperate on days that it's not having it, I know that working for the Media Relations office has given me more than I ever expected.
I’m a communications major and international studies minor. At Luther, I’m on the Women’s Tennis team and a member of the Tau Delta Gamma sorority and the Student Athlete Advisory Committee. Working in the Social Media Bureau has allowed me to further develop my communication skills whether it be drafting a post for social media, emailing Luther faculty about various campus events, or collaborating with other students on social media projects. I love that this job not only connects me to the Luther community, but also gives me the chance to be creative and promote my ideas.
I am currently the President of the International Student and Allies Association. I am also a Resident Assistant in Miller Hall, and am involved in the service oriented Zeta Tau Psi fraternity. My majors are Political Science and International Relations. Working in the Media Relations department at Luther has allowed to me learn a variety of new skills, from writing well-structured press releases all the way to learning how to handle the front desk of an office. The experiences and connections that I have made at Media Relations will help me transition from college life to a work environment.
I am a nursing major here at Luther. A member of the women's track and field team, I am also involved in SAC Concerts, PALs, and the Luther College Concert Band. My job in the Media Relations office has been influential to my transition into college and throughout my first year on campus. Along with improving my writing and communication skills this job has also enhanced my time management skills and led me to amazing friendships. The skills and responsibilities I learned in this position have given me the knowledge to navigate the communication world and I am very excited to continue learning and growing within Media Relations.
I am majoring in anthropology and communication studies here at Luther. I am also a member of the women's soccer team and Launching Luther Leaders. I believe that my job in Media Relations has made me a stronger writer and has helped me to develop many valuable connections around campus. Working in the Media Relations office has given me many opportunities to explore different areas of the communication field. I'm an avid lover of movies, books and mountains.
I’m currently majoring in English with a minor in secondary education and am a member of Norsemen, the men's first-year choir, and Undeclared, one of the male a cappella groups on campus. My job in Media Relations has helped me improve my communication skills with others and also helped me stay on top of all of the awesome events happening around Luther. I believe that in the future, the experiences I’ve had through this job will make me a more productive and contributing member of the school where I will work and allow me to easily connect with future students and co-workers.
I am currently majoring in communication studies here at Luther. My positions in Social Media and Media Relations along with my major have helped me further develop my communication skills and will be beneficial to me in the future. This job has allowed me to work with deadlines, which has enhanced my time management skills and helps me hold myself more accountable. I hope to use these skills that I have learned to excel in any future position that I hold as well as to be a more effective communicator. I have passions for sports and music and am an active member of the Luther community.
I'm a communication studies major here at Luther, and I am also involved in varsity band and Love Your Melon. My job in social media has helped me in a multitude of ways, from being aware of most of the events and performances happening on campus to improving my professional communication skills for my future career. I continue to learn how to write in the conversational style that is crucial for social media, rather than the event-planner style that I tend to gravitate towards. The things I am learning through this job will directly influence my success in the workplace after Luther–as I hope to continue to work in social media in some capacity, preferably for a non-profit organization. I'm currently majoring in nursing and am a part of the softball team here at Luther College. My job in Media Relations has given me the opportunity to meet a lot of awesome new people and has influenced my life in a positive way by making me stay on top of not only school work and softball, but also the responsibilities that come with having this job. Being a part of the Media Relations team will help me in the future due to the experiences I'm getting that involve work ethic, communication skills, and so much more. I enjoy knowing that of the skills I am developing here will help me in life and my potential career.
