Registration, Orientation, and Advising Day (ROAD)

Faculty advising new students during ROAD.

ROAD is a required event for all first-year students planning to attend Luther in the fall. It is an opportunity for you to meet with your advisor, register for classes, and connect with your future classmates and Luther’s faculty and staff.

2018 ROAD Dates

Note about August ROAD: The August ROAD takes place two days before first year orientation activities begin, and is reserved for students who live 350+ miles from campus and Connect for Success students.

What to Expect (Students) - 2018 Schedule

You will receive a personalized schedule when you arrive for ROAD (check-in is 8:00–8:30 a.m.), but here's what you'll generally experience:

  • Welcome and introduction to the academic experience
  • Group advising session according to your area of interest (e.g. social science)
  • Introduction to my.luther.edu, our online student portal
  • Meet with your advisor to register for fall classes
  • Learn about Paideia and the summer reading
  • Fun activities to help you connect with your classmates

Lunch can be purchased in the Cafeteria or Oneota Market.

What to Expect (Parents)

Parents, you are most welcome and encouraged to attend ROAD with your student. Here's what you can expect from the day:

  • Key insights on how to best prepare for your student’s transition to Luther, and your transition to being a Luther College parent.
  • Learn what role you play in helping your student get off to a good start.
  • Learn about purchasing the appropriate technology for your student, and how Luther internet access works. Parental rights to data and access to financial aid information are also covered.
  • Get your questions answered regarding financial aid, work study, payment plans, and more.
  • Meet fellow parents!

We have several cafes on campus, so we've got your coffee breaks covered.

See you at ROAD!
