The 2019-20 campaign will be Amanda Bailey's ninth as head coach. During her tenure she has revived the women's basketball program from a period where the Norse had posted three straight years of single win seasons, to a team that has consistently battled for a league title and has made five consecutive appearances in the conference tournament (2015-19). Four of these years the Norse advanced to the conference tournament championship game, capturing the tournament title in 2015 and advancing to the NCAA III National Tournament.
We practice and play with GRIT (Guts, Resilience, Intensity, and Toughness). The Norse up-tempo style of play includes full court pressure defensively and fastbreak attacks through out the 40 minutes of action. The Norse play a competitive regular season schedule of 25 games that includes 11 non-conference games against teams throughout the Midwest Region.
Individually, our players participate in events such as take a kid to the game, second grade mini clinic, and Decorah Food & Fitness Initiatives. In the fall we provide youth basketball clinics such as Jr. Norse and Future Norse. This is a great opportunity to not only interact with the youth but to keep our fundamental basketball skills sharp.
