Weston Noble Music Scholarships
Weston Noble Music Scholarships recognize incoming students who display outstanding potential for participation in Luther's music program. The music faculty awards scholarships in several areas of interest, including vocal performance. Candidates for a Weston Noble Music Scholarship are identified through auditions and brought to the attention of the scholarship committee.
Other Scholarship Opportunities
The Alan R. and Sally J. Brudos Family Prize for Opera Performance is an auditioned scholarship award. It is presented each year to an outstanding junior voice student with the stated intent of pursuing opera as a career path. Coinciding with the Brudos auditions, the David Greedy Voice Scholarship is also awarded to an outstanding junior singer with career aspirations. Additionally, the Darlene (Peterson) Jones and Robert Jones Scholarship is awarded annually to a student, selected by the voice faculty, who is cast in a leading role in the spring opera production. Various other scholarships are available to prospective students through auditions prior to attending Luther College. These, like the above course offerings and applied lessons, are available to non-music majors as well.
To be considered for a Weston Noble Music Scholarship in the vocal area, please be prepared to perform, from memory, two selections of contrasting mood/style from the classical art song repertoire. An opera or oratorio aria may be substituted for one selection. Please bring a copy of the music to be performed (in the key performed if possible).
