We have arrived back in the States safe and sound! This post is a few days late—the last three days of our tour were spent in Oslo, Norway, which had so much to take in and explore!

Our first stop in the capital city was at the Viking Ship Museum, which houses the archaeological finds from three 9th Century Viking burial ships. The ships were excavated in the early 20th century, and have been carefully preserved and studied since.

Next, we went on a guided tour of the city, which included a walk in Frogner Park. The park features over 200 sculptures by Norwegian sculptor Gustav Vigeland. The larger-than-life statues depict human relationships and the cycle of life.

The tour also included a trip to Holmenkollen ski jump, which has been used many times for ski festivals and the Winter Olympics.

The next day was our final concert day! We performed a joint concert with a local pop choir at the Lillestrom Kulturhus in nearby Lillestrom. This concert was bittersweet for the newly graduated seniors. We wish them all the very best as they begin a new chapter of their lives!

Thursday was a free day. Popular activities were visiting the Akershus fortress, the National Historical Museum, the park around the Royal Palace grounds, and just walking around and exploring. Many of us were disappointed to find that the National Art Museum and the Edvard Munch Museum were closed for an exhibit update, but we definitely found other exciting things to do! Several band members attended a performance of Richard Strauss’ Salome at the Oslo Opera House.

This trip was so incredible; it’s hard to put it into words. We feel so blessed to have traveled and made music with such wonderful people. Thanks for following us on our journey!
