Margaret Britton holds a Master of Music degree in music theory from the University of Texas at Austin. Her master's report, entitled "'A Thousand Nuances of Movement': The Intersection of Gesture, Narrative, and Temporality in Selected Mazurkas of Chopin," explores the gestural connections between the danced mazurka and Chopin's works for solo piano, as well as implications for musical meaning. Margaret will present a portion of this research at the joint national meeting of the Society for Music Theory, American Musicological Society, and Society for Ethnomusicology in New Orleans in November 2012. Margaret earned her Bachelor of Arts in music from Luther College and is trained as a vocalist and pianist. In her spare time, she plays fingerstyle acoustic guitar.
