Linda Martin is a lifetime music educator having taught all levels of vocal, choral, and general music in public schools, churches, privately, and now at Luther College. After twenty years as a public school educator, Martin began her work at Luther in 2003. During her years at Luther she has taught voice lessons and beginning theory in addition to conducting Cantorei, a women’s choir, for ten years. She currently teaches beginning ear training and music education classes. She is also one of the founding directors of SoDa Club, a community choir program for children.
Martin received her bachelor of arts in Vocal Music Education from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls and her master of arts in Music Education with a choral emphasis from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. Her master’s thesis was an investigation into the causes of and cures for breathiness, nasality, and overly dark vocal production. She is a member of the American Choral Director’s Association, Music Educator’s National Conference, Kodaly Educators of Iowa, American Eurhythmics Society, and the Voice Care Network.
