Every summer, around 400 student musicians entering grades 7, 8, and 9 spend a week at Luther College to study, explore, and perform music under the mentorship of Luther's music faculty.
The daily camp schedule includes ensemble rehearsals for band, choir, and orchestra (strings only), instrument-specific workshops, a wide variety of classes, and private lessons, offset by evening talent nights, concerts, and a variety of sports. The camp ends with a grand concert in Luther's Center for Faith and Life.
Students live in residence halls on campus and eat their meals at the college cafeteria. A dedicated, caring group of college-age counselors supervise the halls and daily activities.
The total 2019 camp fee was $515, which included all classes and ensembles, evening activities, tuition, room and board. Optional private lessons were available at an additional cost of $45 for a pair of half hour lessons. Fees for the 2020 camp will be released when enrollment opens.
Enrollment for the 2020 Middle School Dorian Summer Camps will open in December of 2019.
