Due to COVID-19, the 2020 Dorian Summer Camps for middle school and high school students have been canceled. We know that this news is very difficult for our campers, counselors, and faculty to hear. Dorian Summer Camp is an extremely special place and a highlight of the year for all of us. It is hard to imagine a summer without Dorian. Having said that, we know that under the current circumstances, this is the right decision. In light of this news, our 2021 Dorian Summer Music Camps will be even more special to all of us.
Every summer, around 400 student musicians entering grades 7, 8, and 9 spend a week at Luther College to study, explore, and perform music under the mentorship of Luther's music faculty.
The daily camp schedule includes ensemble rehearsals for band, choir, and orchestra (strings only), instrument-specific workshops, a wide variety of classes, and private lessons, offset by evening talent nights, concerts, and a variety of sports. The camp ends with a grand concert in Luther's Center for Faith and Life.
Students live in residence halls on campus and eat their meals at the college cafeteria. A dedicated, caring group of college-age counselors supervise the halls and daily activities.
Registration for the 2021 Dorian Summer Camps will open December 15, 2020. At that time, the total camp fee for 2021 will be announced. The total 2020 camp fee was $520 which included tuition, evening activities, room, and board. Optional private lessons are available at an additional cost of $45 for a pair of half hour lessons. A $50 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your camp enrollment.
