Participant Information


  • Register between on the Friday afternoon of the retreat in the Jenson-Noble Hall of Music.
  • Receive your music, name tag, meal card, and residence hall key if staying on campus.
  • Park in the Jenson-Noble parking lot or in any available street parking along High Street.
  • Move in to residence hall rooms after registering.
  • Grab a bite to eat in town (nothing available on campus) prior to rehearsal. 


  • All full group rehearsals will be held in the Center for Faith and Life.
  • Initial seating of the choir (pre-assigned by Dr. Last) begins after registration.
  • First rehearsal begins on Friday evening.   

What to Bring

  • Black 3-ring binder (size ½ to 1 inch) for your music
  • Casual attire appropriate for a summer weekend in Iowa (A/C in buildings is sometimes cold)
  • Concert blacks for the Livssang performance (black dress, skirt, or pants with a black top/shirt are all acceptable. No need for a jacket or tie. Short sleeves are acceptable).
  • Personal items you may need if staying on-campus (such as water bottles, toiletries, alarm clock, hangers, etc  -- the residence hall rooms in Farwell Hall are simply a room with a bed)
  • Linens are provided for those staying on-campus and include sheets for you to make your bed, a towel, a pillow, and a blanket.
  • If you require accessibility or dietary accommodations, please contact us as soon as possible with your specific needs.

Social Events On Campus in Marty's

  • Meet and Greet Reception, Friday night
  • Dorian Kabaret, Saturday night
    • Relaxed, non-competitive, “live karaoke meets nightclub”
    • Sign up in advance to have rehearsal time during the day with a jazz combo on a song of your choosing.
    • More information will be forthcoming

Staying in Dorm Rooms

  • Festival participants have the opportunity to stay on-campus in either a single or double room. Dorm placement varies from year to year and will be announced at the time of registration opening.
  • Participants have the ability to select their immediate roommate if they are in a double room.
  • Rooms of single and double participants are grouped into "clusters" by factors such as class year, interest, etc. Information about how to request specific participants for your cluster will be sent closer to the retreat.
  • Because handicap accessible rooms and other accommodations may be limited in the residence hall, participants are asked to provide any information that may be necessary or helpful in determining housing at the time of filling out the online registration.
  • Those with significant accessibility or mobility needs are encouraged to communicate those with the retreat staff when determining on-campus or off-campus housing.

Checking Out of Residence Halls

  • Move your belongings out of residence halls on the Sunday morning of the festival.
  • Turn in dorm keys and electronic meal cards in CFL lobby on the Sunday morning of the festival.
  • Lost keys incur a $40 replacement charge; lost meal cards incur a $10 replacement charge.
