Enrollment for the 2020 Dorian Choral Retreat is now open!
What is the Dorian Choral Retreat?
A weekend of choral music on the campus of beautiful Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. Each year at Luther, the Dorian Festivals feature the areas of keyboard, vocal, band, orchestra, choral invitational, and summer camps for middle and high school youth. For the third year in a row, we are pleased to offer the Dorian Choral Retreat for adults.
Who can attend the Dorian Choral Retreat?
Anyone! You do not have to be an alumnus of or even familiar with Luther College. You are welcome to attend if you are a career musician, an educator, or even if you just love singing. Because this is designed to be an event for adults, we require that participants be age 19 or older.
Who will lead the Dorian Choral Retreat?
The primary conductor for the choir will be Dr. Andrew Last ‘97, director of choral activities at Luther College. Other Luther College choral faculty as well as some guest speakers and clinicians will assist with rehearsals and will present breakout sessions.
What do I need to do in preparation for the weekend?
For logistical reasons, please let us know if you require special housing or dietary accommodations. Musically, there is no need to learn the repertoire in advance. You’ll receive a music packet during registration, and the weekend will offer ample rehearsal time to become familiar with the repertoire.
What does it cost to attend to the Dorian Choral Retreat?
Costs are dependent on your housing preference. You may choose to stay in the Luther College residence halls, or you may find your own housing option off campus. Specific rates can be found here. A $50 non-refundable deposit is required for all registrations.
