Saturday, February 8, 2020: Dorian Chamber Ensemble Intensive

Sunday and Monday, February 9-10, 2020: Dorian Orchestra Festival

Saturday, February 8

10:00-10:30  Registration for chamber group participants (lobby, Jenson-Noble Hall of Music)

10:30-11:15  Rehearsal with full group (Noble Recital Hall, Jenson-Noble Hall of Music)

11:15-12:00  Chamber Group Rehearsals (Jenson-Noble Hall of Music) 

12:00-1:15  Lunch: Student Cafeteria ($10.50). Oneota Market and Marty's Cyber Café will be open. (All located in Student Union adjacent to CFL)

1:15-2:15   Rehearsal with full group (NRH, Jenson-Noble Hall of Music)

2:15-3:15  Chamber Group Rehearsals (Jenson-Noble Hall of Music)

3:15-3:30  Break

3:30-4:15  Chamber Group Rehearsals (Jenson-Noble Hall of Music)

4:15-5:00  Rehearsal with full group (NRH, Jenson-Noble Hall of Music)

5:00  Dinner: Meals are available in the Cafeteria ($11.50) or Marty’s Cyber Café. Off-campus venues are also available.

7:30  Faculty Artist Series Recital: TBD (Noble Recital Hall, Jenson-Noble Hall of Music)

Following the recital, students staying on campus meet their Luther hosts in the Jenson-Noble Lobby to move into their dorm rooms.

11:00  Students must be in their on-campus housing sites and remain there overnight. Doors to the residence halls will be locked at this time. Drinking of alcoholic beverages or use of any illegal substances will not be tolerated.

Sunday, February 9

9:00-10:00  Chamber Group Rehearsals (Jenson-Noble Hall of Music)

10:00-10:45  Rehearsal with full group (NRH, Jenson-Noble Hall of Music)

10:45-11:15  Dress Rehearsal for all chamber groups (NRH, Jenson-Noble Hall of Music)

11:30-12:30  Registration for Dorian Orchestra Festival (lobby, Jenson-Noble Hall of Music). Check in, turn in release forms for each of your students, and pay any fees due. Collect housing assignments at the housing table.

11:30-12:30  Dorian Chamber Orchestra Seat Placement Auditions. Sites in Jenson-Noble Hall of Music to be announced. Upon arrival, students should register and audition as soon as possible so that all auditions can be finished by 12:30.

12:30-1:00  Seating of the Orchestras: Chamber Orchestra in the Orchestra Room, Jenson-Noble Hall of Music. Festival String Orchestra in the Main Hall, Center for Faith and Life.

1:00-3:15  First Rehearsals: Chamber Orchestra  in the Orchestra Room, Jenson-Noble Hall of Music. Festival String Orchestra in the Main Hall, Center for Faith and Life (CFL). Breaks will be given at conductors' discretion.

1:00-2:00  Directors’ Sharing Session. Visiting directors are encouraged to meet in the lounge next to the Orchestra Room in Jenson to get acquainted, to share ideas and music and solutions to common problems. Please bring along 5-6 scores of music that have worked well for you, and that you would like to suggest to your colleagues.

1:00-2:30  Solo Lessons with members of the Luther Music Faculty in Jenson-Noble Hall of Music. Please be outside your scheduled studio five minutes early, and please bring music for your teacher. (Students scheduled for lessons should leave and rejoin rehearsals quietly.)

3:15  Announcement of Concert Soloists at both rehearsal locations.

3:30-4:15  Concert Soloists rehearsal with accompanist (Noble Recital Hall)

4:30-5:30  Dorian Chamber Ensemble and Soloist Recital. All festival participants are required to attend this recital. (Noble Recital Hall)

5:30-7:00  Dinner: Meals are available in the Cafeteria ($11.50) or Marty’s Cyber Café. Off-campus venues are also available.

7:00  Concert: Luther College Symphony Orchestra (Center for Faith and Life)

Following the concert, students staying on campus meet their Luther hosts in the CFL Lobby to move into their dorm rooms.

11:00  Students must be in their on-campus housing sites and remain there overnight. Doors to the residence halls will be locked at this time. Drinking of alcoholic beverages or use of any illegal substances will not be tolerated and will result in immediate removal from campus.

Monday, February 10

7:00-8:15  Breakfast: Student Cafeteria ($7.50)

8:30-10:00  Rehearsals: Festival String Orchestra will rehearse in the Main Hall of the Center for Faith and Life.Chamber Orchestra will continue in the Orchestra Room in Jenson-Noble Hall of Music.

8:30-10:00  Solo Lessons with members of the Luther Music Faculty in Jenson-Noble Hall of Music. Please be outside your scheduled studio five minutes early, and please bring music for your teacher.

9:00-10:00  Directors' Session (Recital Hall, Center for Faith and Life)

10:20-12:00  Techniques Classes/Masterclass: Sessions led by Luther violin, viola, cello and bass faculty members. The classes are required for students. Directors are strongly encouraged to attend.

12:00-1:30  Lunch: Student Cafeteria ($10.50). Oneota Market and Marty's Cyber Café will be open. (All located in Student Union adjacent to CFL)

4:30-5:00  Final Rehearsal: Chamber Orchestra (Main Hall, Center for Faith and Life)

5:30 Festival Grand Concert: Main Hall, Center for Faith and Life. Free Admission. Concert Apparel: All black OR black bottoms with a white top.
