      DePauw University

      Appointed to the School of Music faculty in 1993, Craig Paré directs the University Band as well as teaches conducting, Percussion Techniques, Brass Techniques, and Music Education Lab. Under his direction, the University Band has produced ten critically acclaimed compact discs through its CD Recording Project, issued commercially on the Mark Masters label.

      The ensemble has been host to world-renowned composers including Joseph Schwantner, John Corigliano, Augusta Read Thomas, Libby Larsen, Roberto Sierra, and Chen Yi. Paré’s teaching at DePauw has been recognized through receipt of the John Price Durban John Distinguished Professorship, the DePauw University/United Methodist Church Exemplary Teaching Award, and the Joan Westmen Battey Distinguished Teaching Award. As a writer, he is a contributor to the Teaching Music Through Performance in Band series of wind music texts. Prior to his appointment at DePauw, Dr. Paré served as Director of Bands at Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado.
