Hemp Family Prize

Luther senior Craig presents Hemp Family Recital

Luther College senior Charles Craig will give the Richard C. and Joann M. Hemp Family Prize Recital at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 18, in Luther's Noble Recital Hall in Jenson-Noble Hall of Music. At Luther's Homecoming concert last fall, Craig received the 2017 Hemp Family Prize.

Piano Quartet

Faculty Artist Series

Luther College Piano Quartet will present a program of piano quartets and a piano trio on Saturday, March 17, at 4 p.m. in Luther's Noble Recital Hall of the Jenson-Noble Hall of Music. The program will feature works by Gustav Mahler, Paul Schoenfield, and Schumann.

Craig Monson

'Finding Their Voice: Music and Architecture in the Convents of Italy'

Considered both a stumbling block on the way to perfection and a dangerous enchantment to male listeners, singing was discouraged for Italian nuns of the 16th and 17th centuries. Craig Monson, professor emeritus of music at Washington University in St. Louis, will explore how Italian nuns worked the restrictive limitations of the church to their advantage in "Finding their Voice: Music and Architecture in the Convents of Italy."
