Philharmonia Concert

Luther College's Philharmonia Orchestra will perform a concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, November 9th, in the Main Hall of the Center for Faith and Life on the Luther campus.

The concert is open to the public with no charge for admission.

The evening's music features the Reformation Cantata, "Out of the Depths," by Brooke Joyce, Luther associate professor of music and composer-in-residence. Joining Philharmonia for the piece will be Cantorei, Luther's 65-member women's choir conducted by Jill Wilson, and Jonathon Struve, baritone. This piece was first performed during Luther's Reformation Commemoration Concert Oct. 31.

In addition, Philharmonia will perform Concerto Grosso in F Major, Op. 6, No. 2 by Arcangelo Corelli, featuring student soloists; Fugue in Four Keyes on "The Shining Shore" by Charles Ives; "Slane" by Soon Hee Newbold; "Serenade for Strings" by Edward Elgar; and "Jazz Pizzicato" by Leroy Anderson.

The Luther College Philharmonia Orchestra is directed by Spencer Martin, professor of music.
