The ensemble will perform works by Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker, Bill Holman, Moises Simons, Charles Mingus and Thad Jones. The Luther College Jazz Band, directed by Jon Ailabouni, adjunct faculty in music, is a 20-member group that performs on campus regularly throughout the year. The ensemble gives students a solid foundation in the jazz tradition of big band swing while at the same time exploring more contemporary genres and new jazz compositions and arrangements.
