Music in the Shape of a Pear

"Chamber Music from Iowa and Environs" will be performed at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 25th in the Noble Recital Hall located in the Jenson-Noble Hall of Music on the Luther campus. The performance will be followed by a seminar at 4:00 p.m. in the choir room titled "Composers Online: Three Things You Can Do Today."

Music in the Shape of a PearDirected by Luther's Associate Professor of Music and Composer-in-Residence Brooke Joyce, the Music in the Shape of a Pear series includes four concerts, a seminar and a worship service. The concerts will feature performances of 29 compositions by 26 composers. Many of the composers are members of the Iowa Composers Forum, an organization that seeks to promote the creative work of composers who live in the upper Midwest.

Additionally, music by four guest composers from the Birmingham Art Music Alliance, the Iowa Composers Forum sister institution in Alabama, will be featured. Performers include students and faculty from Luther College, as well as local residents and guest musicians.
