Brass Ensembles Concert

Luther College's Brass Ensembles will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 16, in the Center for Faith and Life Main Hall on the Luther campus.

The concert is open to the public with no charge for admission.

The concert includes performances by Luther's Mass Brass Ensemble, Trumpet Ensemble, Horn Choir, Trombone Choir and Tuba and Euphonium Ensemble.

The Trumpet Ensemble is conducted by John Cord, Luther assistant professor of music. Cord has appeared with more than 30 professional symphony orchestras over the course of his diverse performance career.

The Horn Choir is conducted by Rebecca Boehm Shaffer, adjunct professor of music. Shaffer has performed as a soloist and with numerous musicals acts and ensembles across the country, including Tony Bennett, Ray Charles and Metallica.

The Trombone Choir and Tuba and Euphonium Ensemble are conducted by Michael Smith, associate professor of music, and Benjamin Yates, adjunct faculty in music.

He holds the bachelor's degree in music from Luther and the master's degree in trombone performance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
