Jarret Quale, “Lionel Tertis: A Stylistic and Musical Analysis Using Dale’s Romance

(Advisor: Prof. Martin)

Matthew Dosland, “Using Body Mapping to Prevent Pain and Injury in Cellists”

(Advisor: Prof. Hester)

Many musicians suffer from playing-related pain and Body Mapping aims to teach musicians about the design of their bodies to facilitate technique and avoid pain. This presentation will introduce the concepts of Body Mapping and how they can be applied to cello technique to prevent injury.

James Sinclair, “Classroom Management in the Urban Choral Classroom”

(Advisor: Prof. Robison)

This presentation confronts preconceived notions of “good” classroom management with the notes and advice from people within the field. Focusing on diversity, programming, and community investment, this presentation will offer many helpful tips for new teachers entering the field of music education.

Mimi Armatas, “Editing in Josquin’s Shadow: The Critical Edition of Antoine Brumel’s               Sub tuum praesidium 

(Advisor: Prof. Batoff) 

Josquin Des Prez (c.1450-1521) is treated as one of the prominent geniuses of Western music, but what about others who were active during his time? This presentation strives to make the life, achievements, and music of French composer Antoine Brumel (c.1460-1512) visible, and will involve the unveiling of my new critical edition of one of his works.
