We craft faithful and diverse opportunities for hearing God’s word, sharing in the sacraments, and joining in prayer and praise. First Lutheran Church, grounded in the gathering-word-meal-sending pattern of the Lutheran liturgy, values worship as a sacred space for people of faith and seekers alike to encounter God and to receive God’s grace. During COVID, our primary worship opportunities remain online. Visit to learn more.

Opportunities for Luther Students

Internships (paid)**, Music, Anti-Racism Work, Children and Youth Programming, Bible Study, Service Work, Social Justice Work, Worship Leadership

Adrian Walter, our Director of Youth and Family Ministries, regularly has Luther students as interns and volunteers. Luther students have also been active and welcome contributors to our worship and music life. First Lutheran has a longstanding history and relationship with Luther College. Our congregation reflects the meeting of head and of heart, and places a high value on having a "thinking faith." We are a Reconciling in Christ (open and affirming) congregation with an expansive welcome statement. Our congregation seeks to be a place that supports the mission of Luther College and encourages its students in thoughtful and faithful engagement with the world. We want to be a place where faith can be examined, pondered, and deepened. We also have a large number of Luther faculty and staff members in the congregation, and we are pleased to support Luther College and its students by tending to the souls of those who serve the college.
