Information for Session Moderators

Many thanks for agreeing to be a moderator at the Learning @ Luther Showcase!

You can find the time and location of the panel you are moderating on the schedule.

Please arrive at the session at least fifteen minutes early in order to ensure that everything is in order. A folder with moderator resources will be in the room. Plan to wear your name Luther-issued name tag so the presenters can identify you. Please find the presenters, determine how to pronounce their names correctly, and make sure you know what technology/items they plan to use for their presentation. There is not time to load files or presentations between talks during the session. Presenters are expected to have their presentation files read-to-go in advance.

For a session with 3 or 4 15-minute talks, moderate questions for each individual presenter after their talk. If there is time at the end of the session, please moderate a broader discussion about the theme of the session. For a session with lightning talks, all presenters will complete their talks and there will be a Q & A involving all presenters after the talks are completed.

Please request that audience members stay at the session until the end of the Q&A. Try to encourage questions from students in the audience and avoid allowing one questioner (especially a faculty member) to dominate. If no one in the audience asks questions right away, you might break the ice by asking a question yourself; you should always be prepared to do so.
