Meet your Blog Coordinators!

Hello! Your blog coordinators Kari and Katie here! In one week we will travel with the rest of our class from the Minneapolis/St. Paul airport to Seattle, Washington to start our entrepreneurial adventures! We will stay there for one week before heading to the Bay Area for the remainder of the course.

My name is Katie and I am a junior from New Prague, Minnesota majoring in computer science and and minoring in data science. I am the oldest of four siblings and love to run, swim, and explore Decorah with friends in my free time. At Luther, I play flute in the Wind and Percussion Ensemble, am a member of PALS and Computer Science Society, a student worker for the Luther College Web Content Bureau, and currently serve as the Vice President of Service for Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity. As part of the J-term trip, I am looking forward to visiting tech companies, speaking with industry leaders and entrepreneurs, getting to know more about my fellow students, and seeing California and Washington for the first time.

My name’s Kari and I’m a sophomore double-majoring in computer science and Nordic studies, as well as taking art electives when I can squeeze them into my schedule. Besides coding, learning new languages, and sketching, I enjoy reading various types of literature, my favorite being mystery novels. During the academic year, I play clarinet with Varsity Band, sing in Cathedral Choir, and work on research with French and Nordic studies. This past semester I joined the Computer Science Society and pledged to Alpha Phi Omega (APO). Though I consider Luther my home now, I’m always happy to spend time with my family in my hometown of Hortonville, Wisconsin. I love to travel, so I am extremely excited to explore the West Coast for the first time. I am excited to learn more about the current tech industry by visiting large companies and start-ups, as well as to participate in a variety of weekend activities to bond with fellow Luther students.

Until next time,

Kari and Katie
