We are Alexander Davis and Jackie Cychosz, your bloggers for this J-term trip to Norway and Sweden! It is hard for us contain our excitement as it gets closer and closer to our time to depart. As we travel through the cities of Stockholm, Oslo, Flam, and Bergen, we will learn about how cultural norms and ethics influence how Nordic businesses run their organizations.
Here is some information about your blog coordinators:
Jackie Cychosz ('18)
Hi everyone! My name is Jackie Cychosz and I am an English major with a management minor. I am a member of the Luther College Women’s Tennis team as well as a member of the sorority Alpha Beta Psi. Traveling overseas is something I love to do. I have journeyed to England, Spain, France, Germany, and Greece. Each location I traveled to gave me rich cultural experiences and taught me a lot about the diverse ideological norms of each country. I am thrilled to take part in this Paideia program in Norway in Sweden. It not only allows me to combine my major and minor through reading and writing about sustainable businesses, but it also gives me the opportunity to do so in two exciting countries that I have never been to. I look forward to sharing the course’s adventures with you!
Alexander Davis ('19)
And my name is Alexander Davis! I am a computer science and French double major, and I am from the San Francisco Bay Area. On campus, I am vice-president of the Computer Science Society and I enjoy running the trails in and around Decorah. This will be my first visit to Sweden and Norway, but I have traveled abroad in the past to visit family in France. I’m looking forward to better understanding how Nordic countries implement sustainability in their business practices, because I think other countries and corporations have a lot to learn from their Nordic counterparts. Most importantly, I'm looking forward to surfing the waves and getting a tan on the sunny beaches of Norway- (there will be sun, right? I was told there would be a lot of sun).
