Hi friends! I hope you all had wonderful, warm, and blessed holidays!
I am Mikaela Reth, one of (I believe) five of your bloggers keeping you up to date on our adventures in Gallup, New Mexico on the Ed 185 trip. I personally can’t wait to get there so the fun and learning can start and all of us get to share our experiences with you all back home! I am so excited to get the opportunity to experience a culture so far away from my own!
Now for a few things about me: I am a freshman elementary education major here at Luther. I come from Hopkinton, Iowa, which is a tiny little town of about 500 people. I live outside of town on a farm, so I grew up loving everything about the outdoors. I picked up a passion for music in elementary school thanks to a couple amazing teachers! At Luther, I’ve gotten to pursue that love in Varsity Band. Occasionally, I’ll trade my clarinet to play mellophone in the pep band, but often am otherwise occupied during practice. Other places I’m involved on campus are: the Performing Arts Committee (PAC), Drama Team, and I’m currently on the sub list for the Luther Ringers. While on campus, I work in Marty’s and Nordic Brew as well as the planetarium. In the summers, I am the assistant cook at an awesome place called Pictured Rocks Camp in Monticello, Iowa.
I am so excited to embark on this journey and hope you’ll join my friends and I for the ride (from the comfort of your own home, of course)! If you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact me at [email protected].
Take care until next time, y’all!
