Rise and shine! It's 5:00am, and that means it's time to be at the Minneapolis airport to depart for J-Term. Our first flight departed at 7:30am, and all 24 of us arrived safely in Atlanta. Most of us students passed our time in the Atlanta airport reading material for the class, exploring the airport, napping, and snacking in preparation for our final flight to Haiti. Our flight left smoothly from Georgia, and we arrived in Haiti at 7:30pm. It was a long day of traveling and taking over areas of the airports, but we are ready to begin our adventures abroad.
We arrived in Port-at-Prince where our drivers picked us up and drove us to the Methodist Guest House. The car ride was an adventure itself with the narrow twisting streets and constant traffic, but our drivers, Johnny and Erik, brought us safely to our destination. Our hosts had a delicious meal ready for us. We all ate and enjoyed the company of one another and the other groups staying at the guest house.
We have gotten to know each other a bit, and are looking forward to continuing to make new friends! We're certainly enjoying the warmer weather! Tomorrow our immersive learning experience truly begins with a tour of the city and class presentations.
