Notes from ITS Council - 8/15/18

  • New Items
    • MS Campus Agreement Renewal
      • This will be the first year of a new three year agreement with Microsoft and we are in the process of working out options to include and determine pricing.  The next step in the renewal process is due to be completed by September 7.
    • Chalk n Wire for field placement
      • Onsite training for Education Dept will occur this Thursday and Friday.  There is a request for Colleague demographic data on students in education courses.
    • Outcome of EPA visit
      • Loyalty troubleshooting was held yesterday to resolve the problem of outside telephone callers not being able to clearly hear the participants in the room. Work continues on this project. Calling through the app/internet works fine. Loyalty installation was in February 2018.
    • GLBA Questionnaire.  
      • Mark will share the questionnaire from the auditors with the ITS council.  
      • Next Information Security Committee meeting is Sept. 4th
    • Sophos Phish Threat
      • Sophos software to assist in phishing attack simulation will be reviewed.
    • MISO Survey
      • Diane participated in a MISO webinar today and watched the pre-webinar videos that were suggested in advance.
    • P2P policy
      • Mark and Adam talked about enabling P2P Policy on 8/16 maintenance window.  Illegal file sharing protocols such as BitTorrent will be affected.
    • Volleyball camera/software
      • ITS staff are in contact with the Athletics staff responsible for implementation.  They will coordinate with ITS and Facilities services for installation once components arrive.
  • Returning Items
    • LCWireless5G
      • Tuesday/DeaNotes draft to answer questions that have been coming to the Help Desk regarding the deactivation of the LCWireless5G SSID.
    • Phone System Review
      • Next steps in the process is to work with vendors on proposals.
    • Colleague & Virtualization
      • Questions for Ellucian - provide Specs and request for System Health Check on our current system.
