Lavonne Adeline (Hanson) Ramsay age 84, of Blaine, Minn., passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Aug. 21, 2017. Survived by children Beth Ramsay Schalk (Scot) and David Ramsay; siblings Jacqueline (Hanson) Kuhns ‘66 (Ken) and John Hanson; eleven nieces and nephews, 21 grand nieces and nephews and many friends. Preceded in death by daughter Karen Ramsay Smiley; parents John and Adeline Hanson; sister Janice Henke; great nieces Ana Plante and Anika Taylor.
Lavonne graduated from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and went on to spend 37 years as a teacher of English and Music, the majority of her career in District 11. Lavonne was an exceptionally accomplished pianist and was also gifted in playing the organ, clarinet and singing. She played in the Luther College Concert Band and sang in the Luther College Concert Choir, also singing in church choirs and playing the organ in several churches. Lavonne also loved playing card games with friends and family, and was particularly proficient in Bridge. Lavonne was loved by all who knew her.
