Jean Ann Ellefson, 82, passed away Oct. 26, 2017.
She was born on June 28, 1935, in Viroqua to Odean and Zaleme (McHenry) Ellefson.
Jean graduated from Viroqua High School in 1953 and continued her education at Luther College to become a teacher. Jean taught first- and second-grade in Minneapolis for over 30 years.
Jean was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua. She loved to knit and make mittens for her school children. During the summers she enjoyed spending time at her cabin on the lake near Bloomer. After retiring from teaching Jean moved back to Viroqua to take care of her parents. Jean was an active volunteer at the Temple Theatre, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, and for many years enjoyed being a reading buddy.
Jean is survived by her sister-in-law Gerry Ellefson of Viroqua; nieces Christi Reed (Bob Bolstad) of Cashton, Heidi (Andy) Gruse of Neenah; nephews Eric Ellefson of Minneapolis, and Hans Ellefson (Stephanie Rasmussen) of Raleigh, N.C.; great nieces and nephews, Leslie (Mike), Henrikson, Jessica (Chris) Huschka, Benjamin and Matthew Gruse, Elaine and Aaron Ellefson. Also surviving are great-great nieces and nephew Kylie and Allie Huschka, Torsten and Anna Henrikson.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Odean and Zaleme Ellefson; a brother Christian Paul Ellefson, and an infant brother David Odean Ellefson.

Funeral Services for Jean were Oct. 30, 2017, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua. Pastor Yvonne Marshall officiated with burial following the service at Viroqua Cemetery. Memorials in Jean’s name are preferred. On-line condolences may be offered at www.vossfh.com
