Lee R. Nylander, 76, of Noblesville, Ind., passed away on Jan. 6, 2017, at Wellbrooke of Carmel. He was born on June 26, 1940, to Stanley O. and Pat (Tostesen) Nylander in Elmwood Park, Illinois.
Lee was retired from Broutman & Associates in Chicago, where he had been a vice president for 19 years. He received his undergraduate degree from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa and his Ph.D. from Loyola University in Chicago. He was a past-president of the Society of Plastic Engineers; a member of the Blatchley Nature Club in Noblesville; and a member of Noblesville Baptist Church. He raised prized orchids and was a past-president of the Illinois Orchid Society.
He is survived by his wife, Belva G. Nylander; children, Kimberely (Lou) Nylander Herrera and Neil E. (Aliya) Nylander; step-children, Lisa (Kurt) Herron, Richard (Kathy) Gigante, Andrew (Shannon) Gigante and Lauren (Matt) Wilkens; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services were held Jan. 14, 2017, at Noblesville Baptist Church, 1338 E Pleasant Street in Noblesville, with Pastor Seth Leeman officiating. Visitation was Jan. 13, 2017 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road in Noblesville. Burial will be at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville.
