New Medical Plan Option: Luther College is introduced a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) with a Health Savings Account (HSA) option January 1, 2017. These types of plans encourage employees and their families to become better consumers of healthcare. Luther College is introduced this plan as an option alongside a "traditional" PPO plan as of 2017.
"Traditional" Medical Plan Changes: Luther College is replacing the two current medical plan options with a single option with deductibles and out-of-pocket expenses in-between the two current plan options.
Limited Flexible Spending Account: When you enroll in an HDHP and contribute to the HSA, you are no longer eligible to enroll in a standard Flexible Spending Account (FSA). The IRS does allow enrollment in a flexible spending account that is "limited" to dental and vision expenses. We have added the limited FSA as an option beginning January 1, 2017. If you choose to enroll in the traditional medical plan, you will still have access to the standard Flexible Spending Account.
