Peter Lawrence ‘90

  • Three-year letter winner in swimming, 1987-89
  • First All-American swimmer in Luther history, 100-yard butterfly - 1988 (seventh in the nation)
  • Held the school record in the 100 butterfly for 18 years.

Peter Lawrence came to Luther College from Rochester, Minnesota’s John Marshall High School.

He graduated with a major in physical education and went on to teach and coach at Chief Joseph Middle School in Bozeman, Mont., from 1991 to 1994. During that time, he coached the Bozeman High School Swimming Team to three State High School Swimming Championships.

Lawrence attended the Colorado State Patrol Academy in 1995, and joined the Colorado State Patrol in Granby, Colorado, as a State Trooper. He became a Full Firearms Instructor/Trooper III in 2009.

Currently, Peter is a Master Trooper and Lead Firearms Coordinator at the Colorado Patrol Training Academy. Since he began work at the Colorado State Patrol Academy in 2006, he has trained 23 cadet classes; 648 future State Troopers.

He and his wife, Carin, live in Brighton, Colo. Pete has two sons, Nicholas and Erik.
