Professor Sharp Wins Bradford Dissertation Prize

Dr. Kelly Sharp, assistant professor in History and Africana Studies, is this year’s recipient of the Bradford Dissertation Prize from the St. George Tucker Society. The Melvin E. Bradford Dissertation Prize is an annual competition that recognizes the best dissertation written on any aspect of the American South, any time period and any discipline. Sharp will be traveling to the Society’s annual meeting in Milledgeville, Georgia in late July to present a portion of her dissertation, titled “Planters’ Plots to Backlot Stewpots: Food, Race, and Labor in Charleston, South Carolina, 1780-1850.
