Known as one of the most dynamic brass groups on the international music scene, the quintet Spanish Brass will lead off Luther College's 2017-18 Center Stage Series at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, in the Main Hall of the Center for Faith and Life on Luther's campus.

Having recorded more than 20 albums and being known worldwide for its performances, educational activities and collaborations, Spanish Brass dazzles audiences with a wide range of styles from baroque to flamenco to jazz. The quintet has given hundreds of concerts around the world in prestigious venues and events such as the Great American Brass Band Festival, the Juilliard School of Music, Cheju Summer Festival in Korea, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival in Germany, National Auditorium in Madrid, Kalavrita Festival in Greece, Barcelona Auditorium and Festival de Inverno de Brasília.
After they won the first prize in the 1996 Narbonne International Brass Quintet Competition, the top event of its kind in the world, French trumpeter Bernard Soustrot said, "Of all the first prize winners of the Narbonne Competition, the Spanish Brass is the best since the competition was founded in 1986."
