The Luther College Book Shop will host book signing sessions with authors Dick Edwards and Jim McCaffrey from 10 a.m. to noon and 4-5 p.m. respectively, Saturday, Dec. 7, in the Luther College Book Shop in Dahl Centennial Union.
The book signings are open to the public with no charge for admission.
Dick Edwards, Luther class of 1964, will be in the bookshop from 10 a.m. to noon, signing copies of his newest book "My Grandparent: A Life & Times Journal for Grandchildren of All Ages," along with his first book "Mom, Dad… Can We Talk? Insight and Perspective to Help Us Do What's Best for our Aging Parents."
Edwards' newest book was released last month and provides an opportunity for grandchildren to record family history as told by grandparents, creating a family heirloom book. His first book, "Mom, Dad… Can We Talk?" continues to resonate with adults as they care for aging parents and offers insight, helpful tips and encouragement.
Edwards' books will be available for purchase in the Book Shop that day at a special "Christmas at Luther" price of $12.70 each.
Edwards has 35 years of experience working closely with older adults and their families. For the last 20 years he has served as administrator of Charter House, a nationally recognized model for excellence in retirement living and long-term health care affiliated with Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.
Jim McCaffrey, Luther class of 1971, will sign copies of his books "Midwest Corn Fusion," and "Mississippi Mirth" from 4-5 p.m. in the Book Shop. He will also serve samples from some of his recipes.
McCaffrey's books intertwine basic recipes with humor and inspiration from his German and Irish heritage. He has been involved in the food industry in different capacities since 1966, and currently owns and operates Dolce Vita and Twin Springs Bakery in Decorah, Iowa.
His books will be available for $18.95 each.
