Luther softball makes fourth consecutive appearance at Nationals

Whitewater Regional champions Luther College (32-9) will play Angola Regional champions Anderson University (30-16) in the opening round of the NCAA III Women's Softball Championship at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 17. The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is hosting this year's championship at Carson Park, located in Eau Claire, Wis., May 17-21.

Luther is making its fourth consecutive appearance in the national finale and seventh overall appearance in school history. The Norse are led by Head Coach Renae Hartl who has produced a career record of 362-145 and is in the midst of her 12th year.

Luther advanced to the national finale after posting a 4-0 record at the Whitewater Regional, increasing their current win streak to seven games in a row.

Whitewater Regional all-tournament honors were presented to senior center fielder Shari Huber, sophomore first baseman and designated hitter Alise Miller and junior pitcher Becca Girvan, who was named the Most Outstanding Performer of the regional.

The Luther College sports information department will also provide all of Luther's games for Decorah and the surrounding area over the airwaves on 1240 AM KWLC.
