Luther College's Beta Theta Omega and UMOJA will host the college's annual Talent
Show from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, April 6, in the Main Hall of the Center for Faith and Life on the Luther campus.
The show will feature vocal and instrumental music, dance, comedy and other entertainment talents of the Luther community and participants from the UMOJA conference.
Tickets are $3 in advance or $4 at the door, available at the Luther Box Office, telephone (563) 387-1357, open Monday-Friday, 9-10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.-3 p.m.; extended hours Thursdays: open until 7 p.m. Tickets are also available online at http://www.luther.edu/programming/boxoffice/buytickets.
In addition to the talent show, the UMOJA conference will be held from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, April 6, on Luther's campus. UMOJA, "unity" in Swahili, presenters at the conference are drawn from Luther faculty and staff, and the Minneapolis based African American Registry. The conference is held annually at one of the college ELCA/ACM campuses and is entirely student planned and led.
The UMOJA conference is open to the public. It will begin in the Peace Dining Hall on the Luther campus with breakfast and an opening speaker. Workshops will take place in the Olin building. Register at: http://www.luther.edu/diversity/umoja/.
All proceeds will go to Luther Diversity Center Emergency Book Fund and the Sylvia Gift Nabukeera Scholarship. When Sylvia was at Luther she was a member of Beta Theta Omega and president of the Black Student Union which formerly hosted the annual talent show.
