Internships and networking with Luther College alumni and friends are key to the Career Center's primary goals: to build enduring relationships with on- and off-campus constituents; to inspire curiosity about careers and help students explore how careers work, including next steps; and, to help students consider calling and vocation in exploring their careers. The new Career Connections Fund supports applied learning opportunities and initiatives, such as: internship and applied learning grants, faculty-student-alumni mini grants, and other applied learning opportunities and programs created to benefit students and meet the needs of the Career Center goals and mission.
Continued support and growth of the Luther Fund are critical for the college’s success. The $2.1+ million annual goal for unrestricted gifts has an immediate impact on the Luther community – supporting scholarships and financial aid, field study trips, music tours, student organizations, volunteer opportunities in the community, college ministries, residence hall improvements, campus landscaping, building maintenance, intramural sports, student/faculty research, and much, much more.
*Even though our name has changed, nothing else has! Donations to the Luther Fund are still unrestricted, put to work as soon as they're received, and support the needs of our students!
Student scholarship support remains the most important, and ever-present, endowment need. Making a Luther education affordable is essential for recruiting students, and scholarship assistance is often the deciding factor for many students. Fully 98% of our students receive financial aid and 75% work on campus and in our community to support college costs. Today we provide $45 million in student aid each year from college funds. Less than 10% of current need is met by the scholarship endowment’s annual spending allowance. The remainder must be drawn from the college’s general operating budget, diverting resources from other college priorities.
Endowment is the foundation on which Luther College sustains academic excellence for future generations of students, faculty, and staff. Our institutional goal is to continue growing the endowment – for scholarship, research fellowships, programs, professorships, and chairs – to enhance the resources necessary to support Luther’s mission and vision.
Imagine being given the opportunity to design your very own learning experience anywhere in the world. This generous, and unique, fellowship program offers awards of $5,000 to support students in creating a learning opportunity, each as different as the students who envision them.
