Emily Lynch Victory is a 2006 graduate of Luther College and former high school math teacher with degrees in both mathematics and fine art. Her artwork is an accumulation of systematic rules, applied through repeated geometric shapes and mathematical concepts. Victory has given lectures about her work at the Walker Art Center, the University of Minnesota, the Science Museum of Minnesota and St. Cloud State University. She is a Central Minnesota Arts Board Grant Recipient, has exhibited at TEDTalks Minneapolis, and was chosen to represent the University of Minnesota in a Statewide Undergraduate Student Showcase. She is also the recipient of a 416 Commission Grant from the Cedar Cultural Center, and most recently won “Pitch Night” at the Walker Art Center, which earned her a solo show this fall at ArtPrize Eight in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Victory balances her passions by working for a math textbook publishing company in Minneapolis, running an art center in Delano, Minnesota, and ‘paint[ing] mathematics’ from her studio in Independence, Minnesota.
Additional information about Victory and her work can be found on her MN Artist page.
