Selected Works by Art Alumni in the Luther Fine Arts Collection

An exhibit featuring work of reunion alumni artists and alumni spouses will be on display on the main floor of Preus Library Sept 8 – Oct 12, 2014.  They include Walter Ordway ’69; Anna Maakestad ’79; Tom Maakestad ’80; Christopher Cudworth ’79; Heather Riley ’99; Gwen Heffner ’74; and Larry Welo ’74.  A solo exhibit of Welo’s work will also be on display in the Center for Faith and Life.  The show will also include work by reunion artists who were Pond Farmers, a term identifying those who worked with potter Margueritte Wildenhain at her Pond Farm studio in California.  Reunion Pond Farmers are Sonja Juffer ’75; David Aurelius ’72; and Jeanne Aurelius ’74.  Works by non-reunion Pond Farmers will be displayed on the upper floor of Preus Library.  They include Dan Sorensen ’68; John Onkka ’70; Peter Deneen ’70; Mary Deneen ’72; Larry Thoreson ’73; Jere Huffman ’68; Kate Huffman ’71; Peder Hegland ’72; John Coiner ’67; Gunnar Schwarz ’86; Jane Rekedal ’75; Brian Martens ’72; Josiah Tlou ’68; and Paul Wilkie ’72. Also represented will be Dean Schwarz, former Luther pottery instructor who was the conduit for Luther students to work with Wildenhain.
